Duran Duran held an intimate concert on the rooftop of the soon to open Aster club and hotel on Vine Street in Hollywood California last Thursday.
The English band performed their hit song “Ordinary World” with a backdrop that features a lighting display in the colors of blue and yellow on the Capitol Records building. The act was dedicated to the people in Ukraine.
Bassist John Taylor said in a statement:
“We are appealing to our fans in Russia to have an open heart and to support peace. We are all hoping you can get back to an ‘Ordinary World.'”
The show was limited to 250 attendees with an exclusive afterparty with the band. Duran Duran also played their song “Tonight United” from their latest album, Future Past. It’s the song they performed on their recent appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden as well.
During the interview, they’ve talked about how the band is leading this year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame votes to which Taylor joked:
“We’d like to thank Dolly for dropping out.”
“And if Dave Stewart and Annie Lennox [from Eurythmics] could do the same, that would be good, too.”
They’ve also discussed the rumors about a Duran Duran biopic. When asked who they want to play them in the film, singer Simon Le Bon said:
“I have thought about it because I’ve heard these rumblings. I quite fancy Anya Taylor-Joy to play me. … I think she’s incredible, and I want somebody incredible to play me.”
