Another Thing To Look Forward To In 2020
Just a few months left in 2019 and The Doobie Brothers continue to surprise fans. Aside from being a first time nominee on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2020, they recently announced an eight-show residency in Las Vegas and new music next year.
The concerts will kick off on February 7 and the setlist will be a mix of their greatest hits and rarities. Patrick Simmons told UCR, “We’ve been saying that we’d like to do a few different things, probably — some different songs that maybe people haven’t heard before. We’ve got some brand new music that we’ve recorded, and we’re thinking about maybe pulling a couple of those out and learning them to play live. We’re going to bring a horn section with us, I think.”
With the addition of the horns, they get to improvise on stage to the delight of the crowd.
He added, “That’s the moment when you get to challenge yourself and try different things. I really enjoy those opportunities to improvise and hopefully play something you never really played before.”
And speaking about their upcoming album, he didn’t reveal much. But he did drop a few hints, “I can say it’s some good rockin’ stuff and there’s one ballad. The rest is pretty much guitar-oriented rock ‘n’ roll.”
