She Gets It While She Can!
“Get Back” was written by Paul McCartney and recorded by The Beatles on January 27, 1969. The single was released for “The Beatles with Billy Preston” and a different version was included as the closing track for the band’s twelfth and final studio album “Let It Be.”
The song began as a satirical and critical look at attitudes towards immigrants in Britain. McCartney intended to parody the negative attitudes that were prevalent among politicians and the press.
The origin of the song’s chorus is unknown but John Lennon claimed that the message was for Yoko Ono. Nevertheless, the melody grew from one jamming session. On December 11, 2010, McCartney performed this as his encore for Saturday Night Live.
Whatever the true meaning, ‘Get back’ served as a neat summary of The Beatles’ back-to-basics musical intentions, and the song became the title track of what they intended to be their next album.
