Brilliantly Done Too
The coronavirus pandemic has taken its toll on everyone and so after months in lockdown, someone found a way to keep the seniors busy and entertained. Nursing home residents of Sydmar Lodge Care Home in Edgware, UK have made headlines because they dressed up to recreate iconic album covers by David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, Queen, The Clash, Adele, and Blink-182, to name a few. Their carers joined them too.
It was activities coordinator Robert Speker who came up with the brilliant idea. He took the photos and posted them on Twitter. Of course, it didn’t take long for it to go viral. He told BBC, “I had this idea about a month and ago. I started taking the photos and choosing which residents had a vague similarity to the artist and it went from there.”
Speker started a GoFundMe where he wrote, “As this situation is on-going it could be months before the situation changes for them and the need to keep them happy entertained and full of spirit has never been more crucial.” And they’ve almost reached the £2,000 goal.
Even with limited resources, they managed to copy the images to a T. Check out the photos below.
