Have You Been This Way Before?
“I’ve Been This Way Before” was the second single released from Neil Diamond’s second album under Columbia Records, “Serenade.” It has that classic Neil vibe with a slow and beautiful melody. As with every song from Neil, this one has unforgettable lyrics that’s both nostalgic and moving.
- Number one in the Easy Listening chart
- Number 34 in the Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart
Although we all know how much of a musical genius Neil is, his ambition wasn’t to become a musician but a biologist. He wanted to devote his life to medicine and to find cures for diseases specifically for cancer.
His life ambition was in medicine, as explained in a live interview with TV talk show host Larry King: “I actually wanted to be a laboratory biologist. I wanted to study. And I really wanted to find a cure for cancer. My grandmother had died of cancer. And I was always very good at the sciences. And I thought I would go and try and discover the cure for cancer.”
Well, aren’t we all glad Neil pursued his real passion?
