A Unique Take On A Classic Piece!
Luna Lee has become famous on YouTube for playing classic iconic songs using a “gayageum.” From Stevie Ray Vaughan’s “Scuttle Buttin'” to acoustic tracks by Tommy Emmanuel. This woman is hands down amazing! She nails the songs every single time!
The gayageum or kayagum is a traditional Korean zither-like string instrument, with 12 strings, though some more recent variants have 21 or other numbers of strings. It is probably the best known traditional Korean musical instrument.
In this video, she covers one of Jimi Hendrix’s most loved songs — “Voodoo Chile.” And I have to say, she’s mesmerizing. I mean, look at that instrument. Not only does it seem like it’s difficult to master but she’s also playing quite a challenging song and from a guitar great at that!
