Janis Joplin was born in Port Arthur, Texas. Even at a tender age, she has developed and shown her passion for music. She was part of the church choir and her potential for performing has already become evident. By joining the band Big Brother and the Holding Company, their “Cheap Thrills” album became such a massive success.
While growing up, her musical idols were Lead Belly, Bessie Smith, Odetta and Ma Rainey.
Janis is known for infusing each note with strong and powerful vocals. She sings like no other. Her timeless songs became huge hits and are still being constantly covered by several musicians.
