Freddie Mercury’s Final UK Performance Just Weeks Before His Death

Freddie Says Goodbye To The UK
By the time Freddie Mercury took the stage in the UK for the final time in 1991, it was clear that this living legend wouldn’t be with us much longer. His health was in sharp decline, and his frail appearance told us that something was horribly, horribly wrong – though we wouldn’t know exactly what until weeks later. However, in true Freddie fashion, he handled it with a level of dignity and grace that was admirable and enviable when he took the stage for an awe inspiring performance of, ‘It’s In Everyone Of Us’ with Cliff Richard.
Even at the end, Freddie’s voice was unstoppable; listening to this audio of this final UK performance before his death, Freddie never lets on that he’s sick. It’s almost like he bargained with the universe to take everything else; his health, his eyesight, his strength, as long as it would let him keep his voice until the very end.
Freddie performed, sang, and wrote music literally up until the day he died on November 24, 1991.
It breaks our hearts that such a brilliant human being and performer was taken from us so quickly, but inspiring performances such as this remind us that Freddie would have done absolutely anything in the name of the art he loved so much, even at the cost of himself.
+ It’s In Everyone Of Us lyrics +
It’s In Every one of us to be Wise
Find your heart,
Open up both your eyes.
We can all know everything
Without ever knowing why
It’s in every one of us, by and by
It’s In Every one of us to be Wise
Find your heart, Open up both your eyes.
We can all know everything
Without ever knowing why
It’s in every one of us, by and by
It’s in every one of us, by and by
