Who Is This New Guy?

Just days after Dave Mustaine revealed that all the bass parts have been re-recorded in the upcoming Megadeth album, he teased their new bassist in a video. While he hasn’t confirmed yet who is actually the replacement for David Ellefson, he showed a glimpse of their “mystery bassist” as he recorded a Cameo clip for a fan’s birthday. This was then uploaded and shared on Reddit.

“I’m walking around the studio right now. That’s [producer] Chris Rakestraw sitting back there on the console,” Mustaine said. “And you got our mystery bass player hiding behind the chair down there on the floor, so you can’t see him.”

“We will be saying who that is soon,” he added, “and you actually saw him before anybody else — even though you can’t actually see him.”

Mustaine has been pretty active on Cameo – a platform that lets patrons pay a certain amount to get a personalized video message from their favorite musicians or celebrities. Fans can book Mustaine for $350.

Megadeth fired Ellefson back in May following allegations that he groomed an underage fan. He denied the accusations, and even sought “revenge porn” charges against the one who circulated the sexually explicit videos and screenshots.
