Apple’s New Patented Technology Could Disable Taking Photos And Recording Videos At Concerts

One of the things I hate when going to concerts nowadays is how everyone suddenly feels the need to record everything. Why not just live and enjoy the moment? But hey, Apple understands this which is why you will no longer have to endure people in front raising their phones and taking crappy videos. That is, if they have iPhone. Because Apple has just been granted a new patent that, through infrared technology, can disable the recording function.

“A transmitter can be located in areas where capturing pictures and videos is prohibited (e.g., a concert or a classified facility) and the transmitters can generate infrared signals with encoded data that includes commands temporarily disabling recording functions.”

There’s another feature attached to it — it can be an informative tool because say, you’re viewing a painting or any artwork in a museum. You will automatically receive information about it based on your photograph or video. However, when you look at it from a bigger perspective, there could be a downside to this. What if this specific technology will be used to block cameras from recording something absolutely important or extremely sensitive? That’s something to think about.
