You Know What I Want!
“Falling in Love (Is Hard on the Knees)” was written by Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, and Glen Ballard. It was released as the first major single on February 11, 1997 for Aerosmith’s 12th studio album “Nine Lives” under Columbia Records.
- Number 1 on the US Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks
- Number 35 on the US Billboard Hot 100
- Won the 1997 MTV Video Music Award for Best Rock Video
The song is certainly a rocking number, yet maintains the mainstream appeal found in the former Get a Grip singles. The horns arrangements were written by Steven Tyler and David Campbell.
Steven Tyler’s inspiration came in the form of a bumper sticker which he saw a few years back. The music video, directed by Michael Bay, was supposedly a parody for grunge videos. It featured a surreal landscape along with the appearance of supermodels dressed as princesses and nurses.
The single was certified gold by the RIAA for sales in excess of 500,000 copies in the US. This is the band’s third gold single.
Tyler’s definitely owning that crowd!
