Well-Deserved

After almost five decades in the music industry, AC/DC has once again proven why their legendary status is well-deserved.

The Recording Academy just published the complete nominations list in each of the 86 categories for the 64th GRAMMY Awards, and AC/DC received not one or two but three nominations. The band was nominated for Best Rock Performance for Shot In The Dark, Best Rock Album for Power Up, and Best Music Video for Shot In The Dark.

Power Up served as AC/DC’s comeback album as it saw the return of singer Brian Johnson and drummer Phil Rudd. It was also their first LP following the death of co-founding member and rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young.

“This record is pretty much a dedication to Malcolm, my brother,” guitarist Angus Young said. “It’s a tribute for him like Back in Black was a tribute to Bon Scott.”

“Instead of looking at dancers on TikTok, I’m hoping this album will make young kids go out and buy a guitar, learn the riffs and discover the rest of our catalogue,” Johnson told NME about the LP. “It would just be great to get more young rock bands out there, writing their own songs and getting up there on stage.”
